What’s Your Weapon?

Warriors had spears. Knights had swords. Cowboys had pistols. Soldiers have rifles. Police have handguns.

As guys, we get weapons and their use. For hunting or protection. For sport or war.

As a Christian man, what weapon has God placed in your hands? I’m not talking about the Glock in your closet. As Christians, we all have been issued the armor of God and the Sword of the Spirit, as outlined in Ephesians 6 in the spiritual sense. I’m talking about the physical weapon that God has fashioned and placed in your hand. A physical object you use that God turns into spiritual ammunition. What is it? Here’s an example…

For 10 years, my spiritual weapon was a pair of drumsticks. I played Christian music and worship music and I saw the Holy Spirit use those two lathed pieces of wood over and over to reach people for His glory. It wasn’t really about me or the sticks, but what God did with them.

More than 20 years ago, I traded in the drums for a keyboard. From wood to plastic. A rectangular device loaded with keys. No, not musical, my computer keyboard is my weapon now. He uses it through my hands to reach people’s hearts for His glory. It’s not about me, but about what He does with it.

You probably would fully understand if next Sunday morning your pastor used this analogy to describe his pulpit, his Bible, his microphone, or his notes, wouldn’t you? Well, God has issued you a weapon too, brother.

What is yours? What has He placed in your hands to use for His glory? Sure, it may seem odd to think of that piece of metal, chrome, plastic, wood, or paper as a weapon issued by God. But maybe it’s high time, you do.

Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. —Eph. 6:13 MSG

Yes Robert I agree. Like you, my weapon is my pen, pad and laptop. Every time before I write for the Lord I pray that the Holy Spirit will guide my thoughts so every word will be His and for Him. Have a blessed day. Bobby Bentz .
