Information vs. Transformation

(First, please accept my apologies for the video glitch last week. I embedded the Youtube link into the actual post but then didn’t know that Mailchimp would not recognize it when sent out. If you missed it and would like to view, click here.)

The past couple of years I have come to have a better understanding of how God’s Word is not simply information for Christians or some kind of life handbook from God. But His Word is literally the raw material His Spirit uses to transform our minds to His truth.

The Spirit is the hardware and the Word is the software, if you will.

Without the Spirit, the Word has great potential to be useful but there’s no delivery method.

Without the Word, the Spirit can fully function but application and productivity is limited.

When these two are combined as God designed, the person calling on the Spirit to engage, utilize, and maximize the Word as it is fed into us, the mind is then transformed.

All our motives, attitudes, thoughts, and catalysts for actions originate from the mind. Therefore, when the mind is transformed, life is forever changed.

So, the take-away is: What is happening most in any given week?

Is the word of man, caught up by the culture, informing you?

OR

Is the Word of God, catalyzed by the Spirit, transforming you?

Your new life is not like your old life. Your old birth came from mortal sperm; your new birth comes from God’s living Word. Just think: a life conceived by God himself! That’s why the prophet said, The old life is a grass life, its beauty as short-lived as wildflowers; Grass dries up, flowers droop, God’s Word goes on and on forever. This is the Word that conceived the new life in you. —1 Peter 1:22-25 MSG
