Here are some recent messages I’ve received via email …

“Please verify your travel arrangements as we previously discussed.”

“Please review the notes attached from our last meeting for accuracy.”

“Your past due balance is now $5,375.00. Please review your bill to pay immediately.”

“Our job offer to you is attached with the compensation package we discussed on the phone.”

“It was so great to meet you recently. My contact info is attached.”

I trashed every of these and a slew of others just like it. Know why? Because they were all junk mail.

Here’s the bottom line about junk mail …

Every message is a lie. Every link is either an ad or a virus. The message is just a ploy to get me to click the link. The goal is to take something from me that I need to keep or to give something to me that I don’t want.

We get very similar incoming messages sent to our spirits.

Every temptation is a lie. Every one of them is either an ad or a virus. The temptation is just a ploy to get me to buy into the lie. The goal is to take something from me that I need to keep or to give something to me that I don’t want.

Every temptation is just spiritual junk mail.

And Jesus allows us the freedom, the power, and the choice to trash every single one of them we will choose to.

The only temptation that has come to you is that which everyone has. But you can trust God, who will not permit you to be tempted more than you can stand. But when you are tempted, he will also give you a way to escape so that you will be able to stand it. —1 Corinthians 10:13-14 NCV

You have never been tempted to sin in any different way than other people. God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted more than you can take. But when you are tempted, He will make a way for you to keep from falling into sin. —1 Corinthians 10:13-14 NLV
