Dancin’ Through the Fire

One of the videos getting hits this week is different than the typical Youtube offering. It’s a 3-minute testimony to the daily choice we have of what perspective we will view life through.

Olivia Wise is 16 years old. Her dream has been to become a pediatrician. She would stand in front of her locker at school and sing for her friends.

Today, she is dying of an inoperable brain tumor. After being informed that there was no more treatment available for her, she decided to leave an indelible print on us all, so she went into a recording studio and sang this song . . .

“I got the eye of a tiger, a fighter, dancin’ through the fire.

‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar.”

Yes, it’s Katy Perry’s latest hit, but it takes on an entirely new light and meaning when Olivia sings it.

Today, there are so many things we can decide will “ruin our day.” There are so many problems that get our full attention that are actually embarrassing in comparison to an inoperable brain tumor.

The strange truth is the only difference in Olivia’s life right now and mine is she’s been told what will take her and a guess as to when. But she might outlive me, because death could come for me before the next dawn. We simply don’t know, but, like Olivia, in the meantime, we must truly live.

Instead of focusing on what we don’t have, what might happen, or what we deem as the latest crisis, let’s take the inspiring words of a very brave young lady and challenge ourselves to count our blessings today.

If you haven’t yet, go listen to Olivia roar. . . and put life in perspective.

Wonderful when I get perspective, any day, any time. It's always worthwhile! Thanks for sharing, Robert.
