An Interview With God

At times on this blog I talk about projects I am involved with but always only if I feel they have ministry value for you or those you know. I’m not out to sell stuff but to broadcast a message.

There is a film out as a fathom event right now—last night, tonight, and Wednesday called “An Interview With God.”

I was called back in May by the folks marketing the movie to talk with the screenwriter about writing the novelization of the film. I had a call with Ken Aguado, a Christian who has been in Hollywood for thirty years. The one thing on Ken’s resume that got my attention was in the 90s he was the president of Miller Boyett, the folks that produced Full House, Family Matters and the TGIF line-up. Every Friday we would get pizza and watch those shows as a family, because with young kids, we could view the content without having to flip the channel or worry about what was going to be said or shown.

With Ken having oversight I set out to write the novel from his film script. The book is out now on Amazon. I did the audiobook as well that should be added soon.

So what does this have to do with you?

Reaching the millennial generation, the ages of my two sons, is a very different animal than reaching previous generations. I truly feel like this film (which after the fathom events in theatres will be released to DVD and streaming) as well as the book is a great resource to engage the under-30 crowd and start a conversation about God and faith.

The content doesn’t do what many faith films tend to do and “preach to the choir” but rather leads you to asking spiritual questions for yourself. For many years the church has wanted tools to tell people the entire Gospel so we don’t have to do it. (I have a friend that calls this “outsourcing our faith”.) This film and book opens up dialogue for you to begin a faith discussion with someone. You know, like Jesus often did.

So, if you have a young person in your life you want to reach or start a meaningful discussion with, here’s a resource for you. Hey, invite them to the movies tonight and buy them some popcorn.
