30 Years…

As I write this, it is Monday, September 15, 2014. 30 years ago today, I married my wife, Robin.

I am more convinced than ever that the optimum and most efficient way God can change a man’s heart and accelerate his spiritual growth is by placing him with a woman he loves to daily challenge and inspire him to become more like Jesus.

Oftentimes, this is hard for us as men and pushes us far past where we are comfortable—which is exactly why it works and why God chose way back in the Garden to enact His plan of one man and one woman in marriage together. And also exactly why the enemy of God and our accuser attacks that same plan with a vengeance.

I have not, nor will I ever, claim to be an expert on marriage, but my now 30 years in a love relationship with my wife has borne out the fact ten thousand times over that God has used her to change me into His image more than any other gift from His hand—which is best for her, best for me, and ultimately what He wants.

So they are no longer two, but one flesh. —Matthew 19:6a NIV

Robert, Congratulations to you and your wife. I too can attest that having a godly woman as my wife has changed me in ways I did not realize before we got married. Truly a blessing! God blessings and peace. Keep up the great work here. I enjoy and am edified with your writing.
