The Miraculous Miscellaneous

Last week I needed to pray about some important, specific things, all related back to one over-arching topic. I had a great need and I wanted to be specific and focused on God. So I took six 3 X 5 cards and wrote each situation down on a separate card. I laid them all out on a countertop and I prayed for, and about, each one. But—the bottom line was I prayed for God to move and to show me something in a specific area.

Later that night, about 4 to 5 hours later, I got a text from a friend I hadn’t heard from in a while. The topic? It was God bringing an answer to my earlier prayers.

Here’s the quite interesting twist … the text from my friend came out of nowhere … wasn’t expecting him to contact me at all and it was from a situation I would never have guessed might have come together. The answer didn’t come out from anything on one of my cards; it came from a place I could not see; from someone I didn’t even consider.

God showed me when we pray and are open to His will, He can bring the answer out of anywhere, seemingly out of nowhere, when we least expect it.

Did He answer? Yes.

Was it how I thought? No.

Did it surprise me? Yes.

I prayed about 6 possibilities and he introduced his own seventh. Which, by the way, quickly became # 1.

Does this mean the other 6 are off the table? Not at all. But maybe He is waiting on different timing for those. Maybe they’re all no’s or maybe they’re all future yes’s.

Here’s why I’m sharing … whatever it is you are praying about, and for, right now … remember, as I have had to constantly remind myself lately… He is God, so leave room in your prayers for the Miscellaneous category where He just might surprise you and show you His power in a way you would have never guessed.

But … maybe deep down, your faith knew.

What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead. —Hebrews 11:1 TLB
