Keeping it Real

Nothing paralyzes Christian men more than fear. Fear fights our faith on the daily battleground of the heart. It can render us powerless for minutes, hours, even days. It is one the enemy’s most precious weapons against men of God.

Denial has to also be high on the list though. Just pretending something doesn’t exist is an easy escape for a while, but, all too often, it is about as effective as ignoring a semi barreling down on you, while standing in the middle of the road. It’s a nice break from reality just before impact.

Fear causes us to believe that things that are not real do exist.

Denial causes us to believe that real things do not exist.

Somewhere in between the polar caps of fear and denial lies the equator of reality and faith—that place where we are supposed to live the abundant life.

This week, what fear is looming over you that faith needs to kill?

This week, what denial is present that reality must engage?

The very good news is that Jesus lives in our faith and reality and knows exactly what to do with both fear and denial.

Let’s give Jesus the gift of our today, as He gives us the gift of His presence.

Where God’s love is, there is no fear, because God’s perfect love drives out fear. —1 John 4:18a NCV
