Digital vs Physical

The digital footprint. One of those phrases that didn’t exist just a few years ago. It’s the trail we leave on-line. But it’s not like a physical footprint, because no matter what you do, it’s there, even when history is “erased.” It’s how the sidebar ads magically show you that book you looked at on Amazon last night or the trip you priced for this summer on Expedia. It’s even how they can catch pornographers and pedophiles.

The digital footprint for any of us would reveal a lot. How much we’re on-line. Where we go on-line. Work and wishes, searching and shopping, habits and hobbies all displayed.

Let’s consider another print we leave in life. Also one that often goes unseen, yet will never go away.

The Jesus handprint.

This is created forever when we touch someone’s life in His name.

A word of encouragement.

A helping hand.

A listening ear.

A prayer for strength.

Financial help.

The gift of the Gospel.

The Jesus handprint reveals a lot. How much we love Him. How much we love our neighbors. Depth and devotion, faith and focus, care and commitment all displayed.

The Jesus handprint might be seen here by some, but it certainly is seen in eternity. In fact, in the end, it’s the only thing that counts.

One day, our digital footprint will finally fade away. But our Jesus handprint never will. And the ironic thing is our focus on the Jesus handprint will take care of the digital footprint—and any other past, present, or future impression.

Today, where will you leave the handprints of Jesus?

All that matters is your faith that makes you love others. —Galatians 5:6b CEV
