Did you hear the story from this weekend about the tourists gathered in front of the “Full House” TV show home in San Francisco? The actual house they always shot to show the front of what was supposedly Danny, Joey, Jesse’s and the girls’?
So the tourists are staring at the house and taking pictures of it, but what they completely missed was John Stamos, the actor who played Uncle Jesse, also standing in front of the house. A friend even took his picture showing the tourists just a few feet away from one of the actual stars of the show. But they missed him. They blew a moment way cooler than looking at the front of a house.
I couldn’t help but think this is a great analogy of so many people who are so enamored with the church building, the programs, the sociality, the activity, but miss the presence of the Person Who actually created the reason to care about the house to begin with?
I tell you that Someone greater than the house of God is here. —Jesus’ response to the Pharisees in Matthew 12:6 NCV
